Tips for Flag Care
Avoid Strong Winds
-
Don't fly flags in strong winds, anything over 40km per hour, the flag should be taken down as the wind will reduce the lifespan of your flag.
Daily Maintenance and Drying
-
Take down your flag each evening, and hoist again in the morning. When taken down in a wet condition, spread the flag out to dry thoroughly before rolling up. If not required for immediate use, don't fold the flag - this only causes creases. Always roll up your flag and stow in a dry place.
Attend to an Issue Quickly
-
Remember the old saying ''A stitch in time saves nine''. In other words, if you sort out a problem immediately it may save a lot of extra work later. When ordering a new flag, send us the old flag for repair: it can be used again in rough weather.
Avoid Hindrances
-
Ensure your flag can fly freely without catching on anything as this will cause the flag to fray faster.
Avoid Chemicals
-
Don't wash flags with harsh detergents; they take out the colours, instead you can soak the flag in warm water with liquid laundry detergent and then put out to dry after a good soaking. They can be dry cleaned, but ensure they are in good order before doing so.
Colour Fading
-
The bunting dyes used in these flags are the best obtainable; they are UV stable, however they will inevitably fade over time.
Flag Accessory Checks
-
Inspect your flagpole and halyards regularly to ensure that there is no wear to either.
Avoid Unsuitable Weather
-
Flying flags in unsuitable weather conditions may result in the wearing life being limited to a few weeks. With reasonable care the flag will last a long time.
