Our flags of quality, when taken care of, can last an extensive amount of time. Let us give you some tips so you can get the most out of your flag...
Give it some room
Ensure your flag is flown with plenty of space around it. You want your flag to fly without catching anything, as this will only cause it to fray.
Put it to bed
Take your flag down every night, and hoist again in the morning. Our Harry West Flags
bag, which you get with your order, is a great storage solution!
If your flag is wet when taken down, spread it out to dry before rolling up.
If your flag is not required for immediate use, avoid folding it as this causes creases. Always roll your flag and store in dry conditions.
The flag before the storm
Do not fly your flag in strong winds.
Any wind above 40km is not a suitable condition for flags to be flown, and will therefore decrease your flags' lifespan significantly.
Keep an eye out
Inspect your flagpole and halyards regularly to ensure they are free of wear or damage—if they are, we can help with that!
Aging is natural
The bunting dyes used in our flags are the best obtainable and UV stable. However, flags will naturally fade over time with general wear and tear.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
When ordering a new flag, please send us your old one for repair; you can then use the old one again in rough weather.
However, if your flag is no longer flyable, you can return it to us and we can recycle it for you
Be gentle
Don't wash flags with harsh detergents; this will strip the flag's colour.
Instead, soak the flag them in warm water with liquid laundry detergent, then put out to dry.
Flags can also be dry cleaned, but ensure they are in good order before doing so!
Be smart
Flying flags on unsuitable days will significantly decrease their lifespan. The flag's wearing life may be limited to just a few weeks!
Take care of your flag and it will last a long time!
